It consists of writings by Pessoa himself and three of his most prominent heteronyms: Alberto Caeiro, Ricardo Reis, and Álvaro de Campos.

All of the poems and texts have been translated from Portuguese into English by Calvin Olsen, an internationally published poet and award-winning literary translator who currently teaches at Ohio State University.
